Optimum performance needs balance between relaxation and effort. Performance improves with stress up to a certain level; however beyond this level stress has the adverse effect on performance.  Stress is caused by what we think and feel. Most of the time we are not consciously aware of these thoughts and feelings. Learning mental skills, relaxation techniques, confidence building techniques, visualization and mental rehearsal techniques will improve you performance skills.
